In the newsroom

New Headway Upper Intermediate Resource Book Unit 3.1 pg 19

You are journalists working in the newsroom of a leading national newspaper and you are going to choose the front page stories for tomorrow's edition.

  1. Work in groups of three or four.
  2. Decide on the name of the newspaper.
  3. Decide what type of newspaper it is to be (broadsheet or tabloid).
  4. Read the list of possible news stories your teacher has given you. Discuss the stories and decide which three or four you would like to put on the front page of your newspaper.
  5. Think about the details of each story in your group. Then decide who will write which story. You will post your story on your newspaper's page below.

Click on your team's newspaper number to log into your newspaper screen. At the top of the screen, write your newspaper's title in large letters. At the end of every story write the journalist's name.

During the class discussion you will tell your teacher and the other groups why you have chosen your stories.
